During lockdown, Knitster Ldn and Loop Studio approached me to help them with a fundraising project they wanted to set up, Commuknitty. As two knitwear consultancy studios, they wanted to do something to help with the COVID-19 crisis, and they had approached seven of their clients, all up and coming British fashion designers, to design a sweater which would be produced by them and auctioned to raise money for Emergency Designer Network, who make scrubs for the NHS.
They asked me to design a visual identity for the project, to make it stand out and communicate the idea quickly. They also needed me to run the instagram account and create all content. I jumped at the chance to use my skills for good and it became a really fun and rewarding project.

I created a visual language with stitch symbols used in knitting patterns - likening the way that stitches unite to form a great knit, and talent in the fashion industry uniting to be a force for good. The colour palette referenced the NHS blue with a bright red to highlight.
With seven sweaters being auctioned over seven consectutive days, for a relatively unknown charity, a lot of information needed to be shared in a short time frame to completely new followers. I used contrasting chunky and elegant fonts creating a versatile typography system to keep things fresh while being recoginsable. It meant I was able to produce graphics very quickly and reactively.
The project went really well; we managed to secure press in Vogue, Love Magazine, i-D, The Face and The Sunday Times Style magazine, amoung others. We were really proud that we managed to raise £2495, which enabled Emergency Designer Network to make 415 pairs of scrubs.
